
Pain in the leg cramps is not very comfortable. Leg cramps often occur in pregnant women. Why does this happen? What can be done to deal with it?
There are several theories about the cause of leg cramps in pregnant women. The first is that the feet are tired of having to bear the burden of gaining weight because of pregnancy. Therefore, the leg cramps occur in the second trimester and get worse when the final trimester. Another reason for lack of blood flow is to the bottom of the body that is hampered by the pregnancy. Increased weight and pressure of pregnancy in the uterus area blocking blood flow to the lower body. Another theory suggests that the future mother of mineral deficiency in the body, such as calcium, potassium, and magnesium. The study says that this mineral deficiency can cause cramping in the legs.
To assist the pregnant mother to be more comfortable, you can do these tips from Susan Warhus MD from his book titled Darn Good Advice: Pregnancy following:
* We’re cramping legs, straighten your legs and leg movement. Keep fingertips pointing upward, and the heel downward. This will stretch your calf muscles.
* Do not push your fingers pointing down as it would aggravate the cramps in the legs.
* Massage gently with the direction of the calf to the bottom of the foot.
* If no, provide heating in the calf and lower leg after leg cramps subsided.
* Avoid standing for long periods to prevent leg cramps.
* Do not fold your legs when sitting because it will inhibit blood flow to the legs.
* Perform a safe exercise for pregnant women, such as walking.
* Occasionally doing rounds in the direction of the foot joints round the clock and vice versa to improve the mobility and flexibility.
* Add water intake to prevent dehydration.
* Add menu containing calcium, like milk, yogurt, cheese, and green leafy vegetables.
* / Create one banana per day to increase the intake of natural potassium.
* Ask your doctor, whether to increase the intake of calcium / magnesium at night.
